A return to their home alley proved a improbably happy occasion as the Hustlers wrested control of the game on the last leg to record their second league win of the season.First leg provided a good base for the victory with Hustlers gaining one or two pins on each hand against a tentative Outcasts side. Led by a 43 from Andy, the Hustlers gave the second leg a lead of 10 pins.
Second leg continued the good work. An Outcast revival on the third hand was despatched by Pete’s 12 spare on the fourth hand, Pete finishing with 43 and the second leg adding a further 6 pins to the total.
Something had to give and it was third leg. A bad start was compounded throughout the leg and although Captain for the evening Rob managed to steady the ship with 40, Outcasts gained the 16 pins they had lost up to then and unlucky Dave booked Barry the Beaver’s next home when he returns from wherever he is now.
So fourth leg started from scratch. In the event they never looked like losing the game and, with 41 from Gary and a top scoring 45 from Stevie Walls, the last leg’s score of 121 ensured that the Hustlers, with a creditable 453, ran out the winners by 12 pins.
