HUSTLERS CUP RUNNETH OUT

Hustlers’ progress in the Charities Cup came to an end when they were well beaten by Norwood Arms A at the Hillview Community Centre.

First leg tried hard but there was no captain’s innings from Neilson and the outcome was a 9 pin deficit.

Second leg was up against Norwood’s strongest three, all of whom scored in their forties.  No wonder then that both Brian and Malc suffered double digit deficits against their opponents, leaving Hustlers with a daunting 36 pins to recover.

There was an encouraging reversal on third leg when Hustlers’ highest scoring trio were up against Norwood’s lowest.  Led by Lewis with an excellent 47 including a 15 spare, Hustlers managed 120 pins and reduced the deficit by 10.

Thus encouraged, last leg started well with a 15 spare by Gary.  However, although he ended with 47, Pete suffered and there were no further fireworks from the others.  Hustlers ended the leg just one pin in front and the match finished with a Norwood victory by 25 pins.
