CANNONBALLS POWDER RUNS DRY AGAINST HUSTLERS

Hustlers recorded a rare but very welcome home victory against Cannonballs Elite on a rather more forgiving London Inn alley.

First leg really set the tone for the evening.  Neil, Chatz and John all scored 41 or more, and all three beasted their opponents – Chatz by 15 pins.  The result was a leg of 126, some 27 pins more than Cannonballs could muster.

Second leg therefore had a few to play with and, if it were not for Clive with a highly impressive 45 which included three 9s in succession, would have required most of these to stay ahead.  As it was, however, the leg ended with Cannonballs only reducing the deficit by 5 pins.

On to third leg and this time it was Ant’s turn to shine with a series of very consistent scores to reach 45.  His two compatriots nullified their two opponents and at the end of the leg a further two pins could be added to Hustlers’ lead.

So last leg went in to bat some 24 pins ahead and, although only Rob distinguished himself with a 40, the others managed to retain enough of their lead to give Hustlers a win by 21 pins.
