Once again Hustlers came back from the United Services Club empty-handed as Mira cheated by putting their anchor leg on third.
First leg started in a reasonable fashion with Gary the star of the leg, scoring a decent 41 to leave Hustlers trailing by a small margin.
The next three, however, piled on the pressure and Clive’s 40, combined with a very poor Mira second leg, left Hustlers with a second leg advantage of 13 pins and a lead overall of 10.
Unfortunately third leg proved Hustlers’ downfall. The leg itself, in which Dave excelled with a good 40, scored reasonably well but was no match for Mira’s 132. A 17 pin deficit on the leg resulted in a shortfall of 7 pins going into the final quarter.
Hustlers’ last leg was good, led by Neil with an outstanding 49 including a 12 spare and supported by a 41 from Rob. However, the deficit was too much to make up and, with Mira’s last leg proving equal to the task, no advantage was gained and the end of the match arrived with Mira still 7 pins ahead.
