Hustlers suffered their first home defeat since October on a night when the alley (or was it the players?) refused to perform, losing to Mira by 20 pins.
It all looked so good until the last hand of the first leg. Neil had a kangaroo night with an 11 spare and a beaver but John and (after a shaky start) Clive both scored 40. Hustlers took a lead of 7 pins which, but for the last hand, would have been twice that.
Second leg was notable for Pete K who, after another slow start, finished well albeit including a 9 spare. However, Mira were more than up for it and second leg lost 9 pins leaving a small deficit of 2 pins going into third leg.
Third leg was disappointing. Although Chatz finished with an excellent 41, his co-pilots failed to come out of the traps and a further 10 pin deficit resulted in last leg being presented with 12 pins to make up.
And last leg was little better. Anchor man Rob was the one bright spot, his 11 spare helping him to a top score of 43 but once again Mira were equal to the occasion and increased their lead by a further 8 pins, leaving Hustlers tasting a defeat of 20 pins.
