On a night when no-one knew quite what the alley was doing, Hustlers completed their first double of the season in a close encounter with the Superstars.First leg saw an early indication that the evening would not go as planned. Neil faltered, Lloyd collapsed and Andy, nowadays reduced to journeyman status, top scored getting his first 40 of the season. Fortunately Superstars found the alley just as mystifying and Hustlers shaded the leg by 2 pins.
Second leg went the same way with the normally reliable Lewis spoiling his score with a 1 and the Hustlers just keeping their noses ahead with a further 2 pin lead.
With a slender lead given to them, third leg tried to push the game on. Both Rob and Rich took pins off their opponents but Brian found the excitement too much and the leg ended with another small surplus of 3 pins.
So last leg, with a lead of 7 pins, set out to win the game. Steve would have ended the night with top score but spoilt it with null points on the fifth hand (who is holding our beaver at the moment?) while Gary kept the opposition at bay by claiming 12 pins against his opponent. As a result Hustlers ran away with the leg, winning by 13 pins and 20 pins over the match as a whole.
