In an important lower table clash Hustlers managed to put some distance between them and Odds and Ends at the Somerset Arms.
The damage was done almost entirely by the first leg, led by Rob with an outstanding 46, all but one of which were 8s. He alone gained 15 pins on his opponent, and together the first leg pulled away from Odds and Ends by 17 pins.
Second leg’s task was mainly to hold on to this lead but still managed to eke out a further 5 pin advantage, leaving third leg with a 22 pin margin.
Third leg was Hustlers’ highest with both Lewis and John scoring in the 40s. All three gained pins on their opponents and collectively managed to add a further 15 onto the lead.
Now 37 pins to the good, last leg had just one thing to do. They did it, helped by Gary’s 40, and even added 3 more to the total giving Hustlers a clear victory by 40 pins.
