KNOT ERES ARE NOT THERE AGAINST HUSTLERS

A meeting between two teams who both play their home games at the London Inn ended in victory for the Hustlers on a strange night where the lower order batting took the honours.

After last week’s non-performance, captain Neil shook the order up so it was a changed first leg that started the game.  As often happens Andy was up against their strongest opponent but his personal deficit of 11 was partially made up by Lewis and the leg finished just 5 down.

It was second leg that changed the game.  Those expecting Neilson to hold the side together were surprised when both Swayner and Chatz hit 40 (the first ever for Chatz) while Neil was left trailing.  Nevertheless all three players beat their opponents substantially with a 24 pin margin.

Third leg were therefore left with 19 pins to play with and generally speaking they held the opposition at bay.  Although they started well they faded and ended the leg with a small deficit of 2 pins.

So last leg went in with what should have been an unassailable lead of 17 pins, and so it proved.  Although Lloyd and Gary misfired, Wallsey steaded the ship with a fine 41 to secure the win by a reduced margin of 9 pins.

Next week may have a strange look to it with Neil, Gary and even Ant needing to dust off their Warsaw trousers for a possible Polish Pants evening.
