HUSTLERS ARE MORE THAN JUST WOMBLE SKITTLERS

Hustlers crept into the top half of the Division with a competent victory over previously unbeaten Wombles at the Suffolk.

Neither Pete nor Jim-Bob were able to repeat their scores from the previous game but first leg managed to cling on until the very last hand when an 11 spare by the opposition drew them 8 ahead.

Second leg tried hard with both Lewis and Swayner beating their men but John, with a 1 and 2 in his 29, fell to his opponent and the leg shipped another 3 pins.

Up stepped third leg and started slowly. However, they then accelerated; in their last three hands none of them scored below 7 and, with Steve and Anthony both finishing in the 40s, all three beat their men and pulled 19 pins back into the bargain.

In the unusual position of not having to claw back pins, last leg developed the 8 pin advantage they were given and gradually pulled further ahead. Clive managed 45 with a spare and Neil achieved the same score without needing one. The leg of 125 added a further 24 pin advantage and Hustlers ran out easy winners by a 32 pin margin.
