HUSTLERS ARE NO SPORTS AGAINST ALLSPORTS

A stunning burst of exhibition skittling halfway through last leg rescued the end of the season for Hustlers who had trailed for most of the game.

First leg put in a very downbeat performance.  To be fair they were up against Allsports’ highest leg but all three Hustlers lost to their opponents and at the end Allsports were a daunting 19 pins in the lead.

Second leg might have pulled some pins but Andy, up as usual against the opposition’s highest scorer, sprained his back after the second hand and was a walking wounded for the rest of the leg.  The other two commendably kept the damage down to just 2 pins leaving third leg 21 to make up.

The start of a mini-revival on third leg saw Pete K lead with 40.  Ably flanked by his wingmen all three players pulled pins and 8 were knocked off the deficit.

Fourth leg began with no sign that they would burst into life on the third hand; Neil began it with a 15 spare and was immediately followed on the fourth leg by Clive with a 16 spare.  With Gary and Neil completing the hand with 9 and 8 respectively (a total of 33), Hustlers took over the driving and never looked back.  Clive (48), Gary (41} and Neil (44) demolished a dispirited Allsports last leg by 40 pins and Hustlers won by 27.
