Hustlers won their seventh game in a row at Fortress London Inn after beating Superstars by more than their reversal on the away alley. This could be important if the two teams are tied in the league placings at the end of the season.
First leg was a fairly close run thing but was led by Gary with an excellent 41. This did not entirely cover the deficits run up by his colleagues but Hustlers ended the leg a manageable 5 pins down.
Second leg proved decisive for Hustlers. Both Ant (with 40) and Clive, albeit with considerable help from the opposition, pulled double-figure leads over their opponents and their 19 pin advantage on the leg turned the game around .
Now with a 14 pin lead, third leg successfully mounted a holding operation. By the end of the leg Hustlers had lost but a single pin and were able to present last leg with a lead of 13 pins.
Last leg was marked by a push from Superstars which gradually saw Hustlers’ lead whittled down to single figures. Superstars were not quite managing the asking rate but on the penultimate hand Rob put paid to any nonsense with a 12 spare and, with a score of 47 and a lead over his opponent of 13 pins, saw the team safely through with a win by 15.
