HUSTLERS DISCOVER THE ANAGRAM FOR TABARDS

An unforgiving home alley and a good Tabards last leg did for the Hustlers as they lost a close game by the odd pin in 831.

First leg was pretty unpromising but fortunately Tabards were slightly worse with the result being that Hustlers took a lead of 3 pins into the second leg.

Things took a more normal turn in second leg which involved two closely matched sides with Tabards shading it by a single pin.  Hustlers’ slender lead of 3 was now a wafer thin 2 pins.

The achievement of breaking 100 pins was clearly causing some vertigo among both sets of players and, despite Pete K scoring the only 9 of the match, third leg descended back into the 90s.  This time however, Hustlers put their noses further ahead with 3 more pins to leave last leg with a small float of 5 pins.

With Gary scoring 41 and ably backed up by Rob, last leg looked likely to hold on.  Unfortunately, however, the normally reliable Clive misfired and, against an excellent Tabards trio, Hustlers ended the leg 6 pins down and suffered a single pin defeat.
