In a game marked by some large gains and losses by individual players against their opponents, Hustlers snatched both points in a close finish at Albion House
Neil had an up and down evening on first leg but a 12 propped up his score and, with 41, he gained 12 pins on his opponent. This was just as well as Pete, opposing Albion House’s best player, lost almost as many despite getting a reasonable score himself. The outcome was a single point advantage to Hustlers.
Second leg was both teams’ lowest of the evening with Chatz propping up both his team-mates. In the end Albion House were slightly less bad than Hustlers and the single pin lead passed to the home team.
Third leg proved fairly decisive. Both Steve and Ant managed scores in the 40s and, with support from Lloyd, established a seven pin advantage, leaving last leg with a margin of 7 to play with.
So last leg merely had to mount a holding operation, which was just about successful. Hustlers needed 5 to win with last man up and Rob managed 8, giving himself 40 and the Hustlers a win by 4 pins.
