Hustlers Grind Out a Golden Battle

Hustlers were back on the road tonight, looking to complete a rare double as they faced Golden Miller at Saracens.

After an initial stumble, first leg got us off to a steady start, with Gary getting our first 9, only to find themselves facing three 40s, and trailing by 22 pins.  Second leg set about chasing that down, with our first 40s from TC (and our second 9) and Pete in a Salty sandwich.  It wasn’t quite enough to square the match, but we turned around at halftime just 4 pins behind.

Another stumble saw third leg leak early pins before they started to find their feet.  Rich got our third 9 as he just missed a 40, while Steve added another to our total.  But they also found themselves up against three more 40s and we ended the leg a further 19 pins behind.  And so the anchors were faced with a bit of a challenge, but anything looked possible as Rob opened with our highest spare of the season, on his way to our best score to date.  And with solid 40s from Clive (who also succeeded in regaining possession of Mo) and Neil (with a pair of 9s each), they chalked up our biggest leg score of the season to smash our top total.  But their efforts proved not quite enough as they dropped a further 7 pins, to see the Millers take the game.

We’re back at home next week, with another possible double within our grasp as we take on Chosen Champs.
