Hustlers should have requested the heavy roller at the Somerset as they never looked like winning against a team which really understood the vagaries of the alley.First leg tried hard but although both Lloyd and Lofty finished with 41, Chris had an uncharacteristically tough time and Hustlers were bested by 5 pins.
Second leg was dominated by a 41 from Steve but the other two shipped pins and the leg ended in a further 3 pin deficit.
Third leg was pitted against the Merryboys’ weakest leg but no-one shone and Hustlers still managed to end the leg with a further 7 pin deficit.
With a mere 15 pins to make up, fourth leg started badly, generally holding Merryboys’ last leg but not making up sufficient pins. A nine spare from Neil awarded him top score and a cuddly animal to share his bed this evening but, even though Gary almost managed 40, a 50 from his opponent ensured there was to be no happy ending for Hustlers tonight.
