The Suffolk alley let us down again as Hustlers allowed a good lead go to waste against a team no-one can ever remember having played before.First leg started well against an opposition that was clearly unused to playing on an alley longer than their front rooms. Lloyd managed a 9 spare which has earned him a cuddly week with a meerkat, but he was up against the only decent opponent and it was John and Chris who notched up the lead of 15 against their opposite numbers going into the second leg.
Rich was the highest score on second leg, narrowly missing 40, but Swayner was suffering and the leg ended up losing 5 of our lead. Third leg however put in a splendid performance with Steve the star with the only 40 of the night; all three beat their opponents, and added 9 pins to the Hustlers’ lead.
We all knew that this top of the table side would have a decent last leg and so it proved. None of the Hustlers’ last leg were able to compete and our lead of 19 was gradually whittled away with Vikings’ total of 129 proving decisive. Vikings won by 7 pins.
