It was not a merry night for Hustlers at home as they were handsomely trounced by 50 pins by a competent if unspectacular opposition.Lofty’s 9 and a hand of 21 at the start of first leg proved to be a very misleading omen as three subsequent hands of 14 and under consigned the Hustlers to a deficit of 11 pins at the end.
This gentle shoving by Merry Boys was nothing compared to the 125-pin rodgering they gave Hustlers on second leg. Collectively our Second Leg Three gave away 33 pins to end with the lowest leg and leaving Merry Boys with a comfortable 44 pin cushion.
Unfortunately third leg saw more of the same with only Andy’s paltry 31 making any headway against his opponent, and a further 9 pin shortfall saw Hustlers 53 down at the end of the leg.
At least fourth leg showed some spirit with Neil’s 41 the highlight of the night and making him only the second player to beat his man. The leg ended with a 3 pin advantage to Hustlers which meant we only lost by 50 pins.
Last game of the season for us is at the Labour Club.
