HUSTLERS SUFFER AN ODD ENDING AT SOMERSET

Hustlers were well beaten by Odds and Ends on a Somerset alley which would benefit greatly from a heavy roller on it.  The beer was good though and the bar staff were friendly.

First leg proved challenging with all three Hustlers just managing to break 30.  Although Lofty beat his man, we ended up 15 pins in arrears.

Second leg fared no better.  New boy Brian managed to get his first beaver out of the way by the second hand although this was flanked by a well-crafted 8 and 9 at either end of his frame.  But all three players lost to their opponents and Hustlers went down by a further 18 pins.

The situation got bleaker on third leg despite some better scores, with Anthony finishing with a fine 11 spare to get 40.  However, Hustlers shipped a further 6 pins and last leg had it all to do.

Undaunted by a deficit of 39, last leg fought a brave rear-guard action and started to pull back pins rapidly.  Neil, with two 9s, just broke 40 and all three players beat their opponents, but they ran out of hands and although managing to claw back 20 pins, Hustlers ended the game 19 pins short.
