HUSTLERS UPSTAGE SUPERSTARS IN FIRST GAME VICTORY

A dazzling last leg of 143 was enough to finish off a Superstars side who were as unfamiliar with their shiny new alley as we were.  In the coming season both teams will encounter far worse alleys than this.

First leg saw some contrasting fortunes with Clive and John both excelling but the alley was too accurate for Lloyd who ended up with bottom score of the evening.  The outcome was a 10 pin lead for Hustlers.

Second leg built on this good work with both Brian and Pete hitting 40s and Lewis not far behind.  A further 8 pin lead opened up the gap to 18 pins.

Third leg was largely formed of those who didn’t deserve to be in the starting 12 but for an outburst of magnitude by the captain.  In fact Swayner rose to the occasion and helped to limit the damage to a loss of 6 pins.

On to last leg and the late inclusion of petulAnt (sore at being left out but determined to prove the captain wrong) gained the biggest lead on his opponent.  His 45 for the cause included a 12 spare; however it was Gary with 50 (also including a spare) and Neil with 48 (including 2 spares) who stole the show and all three overcame Superstars’ last leg by a further 16 pins, leaving Hustlers running out with a 28 pin victory to start the new season.
