The food (which one never sees at the Hillview, especially at Christmas) was the consolation prize for last night’s opposition at the London Inn as Hustlers ran out easy winners by 37 pins.
The first leg was a tight affair with Lloyd notionally acquiring Barry the Beaver on his last hand (where is Barry?), but Brian continued his fine recent run of form and the six pins he pulled on his opponent ensured that Hustlers ended the leg 4 pins ahead.
Second leg was marked by Pete K’s excellent 42 although Chatz provided some unwitting entertainment with a spare 9 (again, the animal he gets for this has gone into hiding). The outcome was a further 7 pin advantage to take into third leg.
Hopefully Chatz was watching third leg as Ant provided a fine demonstration of how to make money from skittles. His two spares (12 and 10) enabled him to reach 47 and single-handedly push Hustlers a further five pins ahead to give fourth leg a comfort zone of 16 pins.
Last leg then went to town against a misfiring Hillview trio. Both Clive and Neil scored in the 40s and each player pulled 10 pins on their opponent. The resultant gain of a further 21 pins provided Hustlers with a comfortable winning margin of 37.
