An unbalanced Hustlers side lost heavily to Rowanfield SC with second leg scoring the highest and a makeshift last leg the lowest.
First leg did the biz, led as usual by Neilson whose 47 overcame his opponent’s 45 and left the other two on the leg jointly to mount a holding operation. The outcome was a slender 3 pin lead.
Second leg was dominated by Ant, out of Africa and Hustlers’ top scorer of the night. His 13 spare contributed to a fine 48 which was the perfect antidote to the same score of his opponent. Alas the other two did not do quite enough to win the leg and Hustlers lost 4 pins to get to the half-distance one pin down.
Third leg saw a powerful performance by Lewis, spoiled by a two but still earning him 40 pins. However all three players lost to their opposite numbers and Hustlers shipped a further 10 pins.
With Strensham’s Ubermensch having at last turned up, a strange looking (no offence intended) anchor leg was faced with an 11 pin deficit, a situation which they quickly set about increasing further with a hand of 9 against Rowanfield’s 23. Gory details of the rest of the leg will be spared the gentle reader but the result against what turned out to be Rowanfield’s best leg was always clear and last leg contrived to rack up a 34 pin deficit before eventually losing the match by 45 pins.
