Down to our last 3 games and Hustlers headed off to Parklands, aiming to avoid a double at the hands of table-topping Fox & Hounds.
A mixed start from first leg, as Chris drew with his man, Lloyd opened with our first 9 on his way to top score, and Rob’s 9 failing to avoid his largest BYM defeat of the night. Trailing by 15 already, second leg set about their task, but even Pete’s 9 couldn’t keep the gap down, and we endeed the first half trailing by 29 pins.
Despite racking up our lowest total of the night, third leg proved to be our most successful. TC’s 9 helped him to the top BYM, debutant Malcolm held his man, with AS’s loss condemning the leg to a single pin deficit. And so it came down to the anchors once more. But they started pulling pins back at first, before the hounds found their stride and, despite Gary getting our only Beaver, to gain possession of Barry and Clive scraping our sole spare (and only our second positive BYM), it proved not quite enough, as they dropped a further 17 pins.
It’s our last home game next week, as we face Cowley CC and maybe a chance to avoid relegation.
