SYNDICATE COLLAPSES AS HUSTLERS PROVE BETTER BETS

Hustlers recorded their second league win of the season with a good performance against a Syndicate team that struggled with the London Inn alley.

The game started neck and neck but Hustlers got their noses ahead by the third hand and, with Neil and Lewis (helped by a 15 spare) both scoring in the 40s, Hustlers reached the first fence with over 120 pins and a lead of 10 to take into the second leg.

Second leg proved decisive.  Pete bettered (battered?) his opponent by 16 pins and with Brian adding a further 10 to the mix, Hustlers ended up odds on favourites by stretching the advantage a further 25 pins.

With statistically the weakest leg coming up, some might have thought a pin cushion of 35 pins would be necessary (so long as the bench didn’t have to sit on it).  However, third leg stepped up to the plate and, although it was indeed collectively the lowest scoring trio, cleared the jumps with a lead of 7 more pins.

For the first time in the living memories of those with Alzheimers’, fourth leg could relax on the home straight and enjoy themselves – a little too much it seems, although Ant managed a creditable 40.  The game ended with a further 7 pin gain and Hustlers ran out the winners by 51 pins.
