On the road again, Hustlers journeyed to Charlton Kings, looking to restore winning ways against old friends Cowley CC.
A steady start saw Lofty narrowly miss out on our opening 40 as first leg lost a mere 3 pins. Pete was to similarly fall short of his 40, while Dave got his highest score and first positive BYM of the season, as second leg turned things around to give us the lead by 3 pins, leaving the game finely poised at the midpoint.
Third leg then suffered something of a stutter, despite Chris getting our first 9, as they conceded 18 pins, leaving the anchors with the now familiar pin chase. A steady start began to offer some hope as thyey began to slowly peg back the lead. Then the game took a dramatic turn as, in quick succession, Neil regained Mo with his second 9 spare of the year, Gary got another 9 and Clive smacked our only spare. And we were somehow back in front. With a mainly steady end, they were able to build on that, as they each hit 40, with Clive scraping the top spot. Can we make it a double win at Christmas as we wrap up the first half of the season with a possible cracker against Eagle Star at the Suffolk next week?
