On a surprisingly dead alley at the Suffolk, Hustlers narrowly lost to high-riding Mira in a game they really should have won.
A revamped first leg saw both Rob and Neil underperform but all three players, bolstered by a good performance from John, beat their opponents and managed to pull 15 pins ahead.
On second leg Andy and Pete together held their opponents but Chatz found the gap between king and quarter too wide for his liking and was unfortunate to finish with his lowest score of the season.
With a slender lead of one pin, third leg started to sink. However Swayner, with a creditable 40, almost managed to keep the team above water and Hustlers went into last leg just one down.
On paper, last leg should have had the firepower to win but, although Gary finished with 40, only Clive (with a 12 to spare his blushes) managed to beat his opponent. A crucial last hand failed the nerve test and Hustlers lost the game by a mere 4 pins and a rather poor total of 419.
