Full of New Year’s Resolution, Hustlers began this half of the season with a home game against seasonally-named Merryboys, determined to raise the spirits of hospitalised JT.
Rob got us off to a fine start with our first 9 and 40, but Marty’s beaver helped him & TC keep our lead down to 4 pins. But second leg weren’t happy with that and were determined to set a more challenging target, losing 11 pins, to leave us trailing by 7 at the midpoint.
With Stu and Cap’n Clive taking the honours in the raffle, third leg were helped by Stu’s BYM as they won by 9 pins to give the anchors a 2-pin lead to defend. With 40s from Neil and Clive (just claiming top score by dint of our second 9), ably supportred by Gary, they set about the task eagerly, strertching that lead out by a further 14 pins to give us our first win of 2015.
We’re away next week – against Ullenwood at the Suffolk. Hopefully, we won’t be too confused.
